Counselor

Hello, my name is Ashley Blodgett and I am very excited to be the new counselor here at Wishram School District #94.  I was born in Yakima, Washington and spent the beginning of my childhood raised on the Yakama Reservation in White Swan, Washington.  I am an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation.  I moved to Central Oregon in 1991, spent the rest of my childhood there in a town called Redmond, and graduated from Redmond High School in 2002.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in 2006 from the College of Education with the ultimate goal of becoming a certified teacher.  I double majored in Educational Studies and Sociology because of my dual interest and minored in Special Education. Taking a break from higher education, I served in various roles of the Early Childhood Education field and the Head Start program for the following three years, from teaching to management.  I valued the work in the classroom, but found my passion in the work outside of the classroom and decided to enter the Master of Social Work program through Portland State University.

After graduating with my MSW in 2013, I began my Social Work career as a Child and Family Therapist for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.  After two very rewarding and often times challenging years of experience as a therapist, I then spent the following three years as the Medical Social Worker at the Indian Health Services Clinic in Warm Springs, where I partnered with medical providers to provide behavioral health support to patients, as well as partnered with the Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team and conducted forensic interviews for suspected child abuse and neglect.  I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2017.

An added bonus to the move to Wishram is my family gets to be closer to my brother Cheyne, sister-in-law Ronni, and niece Anuhea, who most of you may already know.  I have three wonderful sons, Jamos, Jrayden and Julian, a step-daughter, JoLessa, two dogs, Mack and Marley, and an awesome significant other, Robert (or "Bug" as everyone calls him). We cannot wait to get to know all of you and I am very eager to develop long lasting relationships with the students and their families here in Wishram.

Please feel free to contact me via phone or email, or come by the school with any questions, concerns, or just to chat.
