 Staff Spotlight – Ms. Monica Snodgrass 

This week I would like to recognize and give a huge shout out to Ms. Monica Snodgrass.

Ms. Monica came to Wishram School two years ago and has been an absolute rockstar ever since.

I still remember her interviewing for a 4/5 teaching position that we had open at the time. Being fresh out of college, we honestly felt like we might be throwing her to the wolves if we placed her directly into that position. We ended up going a different direction at that time.

Later, we realized we had the funding available for a full-time Title/LAP position. We called Ms. Monica back and encouraged her to apply. Even though we interviewed several qualified applicants, we chose to hire Ms. Monica—and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we could have made.

Looking back now, I truly believe she would have been a rockstar in the 4/5 position as well. We were wrong.

Ms. Monica organizes MAP assessment testing and uses student data to help identify where students need additional support and intervention. She also works closely with para educators and certificated teachers, helping direct and support intervention groups so students receive the extra academic help they need. She is dependable, hardworking, and always willing to be a team player. She consistently stays late to help organize and support afterschool events and activities for students and families.

Ms. Monica is currently pregnant and, after much thought, she and her husband have decided that she will resign at the end of this school year to become a stay-at-home mom.

While I very much respect and support that decision, Wishram School is truly losing a talented, caring, and professional team member.

Ms. Monica—we love you and appreciate everything you have done for our students and school community. If and when you ever decide to return to education, please know that if I have a position open, I would welcome you to apply and would not hesitate to rehire you into any position you are qualified for.

 The Final Weeks Are Here 

It is hard to believe that we are now entering the final weeks of the 2025/2026 school year. These last days will be filled with important events, celebrations, field trips, activities, and memories for our students.

As we close out the school year, we encourage all students to stay focused academically, finish assignments strong, continue attending school consistently, and take advantage of any support offered by staff. These final weeks truly matter.

This is also a special time for our Seniors as they begin celebrating the final milestones of their high school journey.

 We would also like to invite our families, friends, alumni, and community members to join us on Saturday, June 6th at 11:00 AM as we celebrate the Wishram School Class of 2026. Graduation is one of the most important and meaningful traditions in a school community, and we hope to see a strong turnout as we honor our graduates and their accomplishments.

 Congratulations & Good Luck to Our Seniors 

On Sunday, May 31st, our Seniors will officially depart for their Senior Trip to Florida! This is an exciting opportunity and a memory that many of them will carry for the rest of their lives.

We hope our Seniors have a safe, fun, and unforgettable trip together as they celebrate the end of their time at Wishram School.

Have fun Seniors—we can’t wait to hear all about the trip when you return!
