• Mr. Pickette's Fifth and Sixth Grade Class

      Mr. Pickette

    5th&6th Grade

I did my undergraduate work at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington (1973-1978). I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History and also in Education.

Following graduation I worked in Spokane, Washington at various jobs as I looked for a full time teacher’s position. In 1984 I returned to school at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington and received a degree in Special Education. In 1987 I was employed in Huntington, Oregon as a Special Education teacher and worked there

for two years before returning to Washington to look for a different position.

In the fall of 1989 I accepted a position through the Education Service District in Vancouver, Washington. My assigned  school district was (sight unseen) Wishram School District #94 in the small railroad town of Wishram, Washington. I proceed to work there as a Special Education teacher and Title One coordinator until 1994.

In that year I returned to Eastern Washington University and obtained my Elementary School endorsement to teach 1-8 grade. I then began to work full time at Wishram as a fifth and sixth grade teacher.

Then in 1995 I attended the University of Portland and obtained my Masters of Education degree. Following that I worked and obtained my administration certificate at Heritage University in Toppenish, Washington in 2012. I had a brief experience as an assistant principal under my mentor, Mr. Duane Grams before deciding to return to the classroom as a fifth and sixth grade teacher.

Currently I am planning to retire from teaching after thirty-three years in June 2020. I have taught at Wishram School for thirty of those years. During this time I met my wife and we have raised two children in

    nearby The Dalles, Oregon.
