Mr. Churchwells weekly update

Posted by Jason Cooper on 1/31/2025

Hello Wishram Students, Staff, Friends, and Family.

Happy Friday, everyone!

The weather forecast currently predicts potential inclement weather starting late Sunday night and lasting through Wednesday morning. Rest assured, a team of school personnel will be monitoring road conditions each morning and throughout the day. Decisions regarding a late start, school closure, or possibly early release will be made based on these conditions.

There are several ways to stay informed about any decisions regarding school operations:

  • Wait for an automated message from Mr. Churchwell
  • Visit the Wishram School Facebook page or website for updates
  • Tune in to local news stations: KATU, KOIN, KGW, or KPTV
  • Download the FlashAlert app and sign up for notifications from Wishram School

Stay safe and have a great weekend!

Update on Modular Buildings Progress

Pacific Mobile has been on-site throughout this week working on the modular buildings. Although they initially planned for the first inspection on Wednesday, they were unable to get on the inspection schedule until Friday.

Both buildings are now fully attached, with foundations completed and anchored to the ground. Once the inspector clears the foundation on Friday, they plan to begin installing the skirting around the buildings.

Looking ahead to next week (weather permitting), the goal is to finish building the forms for the sidewalks and then pour the concrete. Additionally, they aim to construct and install the ADA ramps, as well as build the stairs for emergency exits during the week of February 10th.

While much of the electrical equipment is on backorder, it's expected to arrive by the end of this month. If it arrives as planned, we anticipate having power by the end of the first week in March. After that, they will proceed with installing carpets, and gutters, and running low-voltage wiring. This wiring will connect the modular buildings to the main school building, enabling communication, internet access, cameras, fire protection, and more.

While there's still work to be done, we're making great progress and it will all be worth the wait once everything is completed.
