Wishram School – Week in Review & Next Week’s Schedule
November 10 – November 22, 2025
November is Native American Heritage Month
November is a time to honor, recognize, and celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of Native Americans — including the many Indigenous students, families, and community members who are an important part of Wishram School. Throughout the month, our classrooms are taking time to learn, reflect, and appreciate the rich cultural traditions rooted here in the Columbia River region and across Turtle Island.Wishram School is honored to employ Ms. Colleen George and Ms. Kathrine George, who teach the local Sahaptin language every Wednesday at Wishram School. Every student has the opportunity to participate in these language classes, helping preserve, revitalize, and pass on this important cultural knowledge for future generations.
As part of our celebration, Wishram School will be hosting a Native American Heritage Cultural Night on Tuesday, November 18th.
Please join us from 4:00–6:30 PM for stories, activities, and opportunities to learn about traditions from across Turtle Island.
We will share a meal of Venison Stew, Fry Bread, Huckleberry Jam, and Peppy Nettle Tea.
All are welcome — we look forward to celebrating together.

Week in Review: November 10 – November 15, 2025It was another meaningful and community-centered week at Wishram School, filled with learning, connection, and opportunities for students and families.
On Monday, our School Therapist and School Nurse were on site, and Mr. Churchwell attended the weekly REC Meeting.
Tuesday was a day of reflection as we observed Veterans Day.
On Wednesday, our REACH After-School Program, run by Ms. Ringer and Ms. Kobeck, hosted a Family Game Night for students, families, and community members. Multiple games were available throughout the gym, along with popcorn and juice. Events like this strengthen the relationships that make Wishram such a special place.

Thursday brought another visit from our School Therapist as students continued to receive ongoing support.
On Friday, our planned ASB Veterans Day Assembly had to be canceled because the Veterans Home in The Dalles was placed on COVID protocol.
Instead, each classroom watched a video that discussed what it’s like to be a veteran, followed by meaningful class discussions.
Wishram School is sending our prayers and positive thoughts to every veteran living in The Dalles Veterans Home as they navigate this situation.

Mr. Churchwell joined a legislative session with the ESD 112 and other Superintendents from across the region, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Later that morning Mr. Cameron, and Mr. Walters attended the Behavioral Health Network Meeting.
It was a week filled with gratitude, family engagement, and community partnership — all focused on supporting students and honoring those who serve.
