Dear Wishram Friends and Families,
I hope this message finds you well. Below is our weekly update, including highlights from the past week, upcoming events, and important announcements.
Modular Update:
-
Pacific Mobile was onsite this week, making progress on the modular buildings.
-
Rains Electric continued work on the new 400 amp system at the transportation lot. They pulled all the electrical wire from the transportation lot through the conduit to the buildings.
-
Once power is connected, interior work will resume, including carpets and baseboards.
-
Low-voltage wiring for fire alarms, phone/internet, and bells will require some concrete coring on the school building.
-
We remain on track to furnish and move into the buildings over the summer break!
6 Million Dollar Small Rural Schools Grant:
Energy-efficient upgrades continue with:
-
We are 70% through with the design phase.
-
Construction is set to start March 24th.
-
Lowering ceilings for improved efficiency.
-
Installing new LED occupancy-sensing light fixtures.
-
Upgrading to a gas-powered energy-efficient HVAC system.
-
Installing a new hot water system.
-
Adding an energy-efficient walk-in cooler and freezer.
-
Construction is scheduled to continue throughout the spring.
Week in Review:
Monday, March 10:

The Therapist and School Nurse were on-site.
-
Mr. Churchwell attended a Phase 1 Design Review with Apollo at 9:00 AM.

Mr. Churchwell attended a REC Meeting from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
-
Staff Meeting was held at 3:05 PM in the staff workroom.
-
Mr. Churchwell participated in a Table Top Challenge Webinar from 3:30 to 4:30 PM.
-
Community Council Meeting was held at 5:30 PM at the school.
Tuesday, March 11:
-
The Therapist was on-site.
-
Mr. Churchwell attended a REC Meeting from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Mr. Churchwell attended a meeting from 11:00 - 12:00 with Klickitat County Sheriff's office, Klickitat County Emergency Management,. as well as with the other Superintendents from Gorge schools to on board E3. Now during a real emergency, our loca responding agencies will be kept up to date real time via the E3 App.

Mr. Churchwell participated in an OSPI Webinar from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
-
Secondary students attended a concert in The Dalles.
Wednesday, March 12:

Mr. Churchwell attended a Superintendents' Meeting with Gorge, Pacific, and Wahkiakum Counties.
-
Several Wishram staff members participated in a Suicide Prevention Training from 3:05 to 4:00 PM.
Thursday, March 13:
-
REACH students and staff are taking a Field Trip.
-
Mr. Churchwell attended a Regional Standard Response Protocol (SRP) Meeting from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
- Snow Make-up Day (No school unless closure occurs before this date).
- Bookmobile will be in the school parking lot from 10:30 to 12:30 hosting a story time and crafts.
Looking Ahead: March 16 - March 22, 2025
Sunday, March 18:
- Mr. Churchwell, Ms. Barnhart and Ms. Duke will be heading to Wenatchee to attend the Small Schools Conference hosted by Washington Association of School Administrators, (WASA). We will be there through Tuesday.
Monday, March 17:

Mr. Churchwell will attend a Superintendents' Meeting with Gorge, Pacific, and Wahkiakum Counties.

Thursday, March 20:

Spring Equinox – First Day of Spring!

Mr. Churchwell will be attending a Webinar on the new Requirements of the Clean Buildings Act.

WAGAP Food Truck will be in the school parking lot from 9:00 - 11:00 AM.
Friday, March 21:

4th & 5th grade students will be on a field trip to the Lyle Falls

Mr. Churchwell will be at ESD 112 attending a Superintendents meeting from 10:00 to 1:00.
